Feldenkrais is a Method of somatic education that helps you reconnect with your ability to move with ease, through a natural, exploratory learning process. The Feldenkrais Method helps you learn how to make any activity easier, more effective and more enjoyable.

It can be experienced in several formats:

  • Awareness Through Movement® group classes on Fridays 10 - 11 am on Salt Spring Island. Drop-in $15. 10 sessions / $120.
  • Functional Integration® individual sessions by appointment on Salt Spring Island. $80 for 1 - 1 1/2 hours.
  • At home with Anna's Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement recorded lessons available for $120. Please contact Anna to register.

Awareness Through Movement

In Awareness Through Movement classes I verbally guide you through an exploration of movement sequences while you are lying, sitting, standing or walking. The movements focus your attention on how you move. The emphasis is on becoming aware of limiting habitual patterns of movement and developing new alternatives. You discover how to integrate these more efficient patterns into your daily life. You learn to relax and to move with more enjoyment, freedom and ease.

Functional Integration

In Functional Integration, I use a combination of verbal instruction and slow, gentle touch. Comfortably clothed, you may begin by sitting or lying on a low, padded table. I lead you through a series of precise movements that release tension and teach you how to work smarter rather than harder. The movements alter habitual patterns and provide new information directly to the neuromuscular system. The individual work is especially useful if you want to overcome limitations brought on by stress, misuse, injury or illness. As a result, you will perform better, both physically and mentally.
